Sand Creek Regional Greenway is a 14-mile public greenway connecting the High Line Canal in Aurora with the Platte River Greenway in Commerce City. The Sand Creek Greenway Master Plan, developed by Wenk Associates, stresses the importance of the corridor as a major link in the regional trail system. It has served as the blueprint for extensive habitat restoration, as well as development and implementation trails and associated amenities, including trailheads and parking. It has also provided a plan for the reuse of cultural and natural features as interpretive elements that reveal the site's history. Importantly, the plan provides for a multi-jurisdictional administrative structure to oversee design, implementation, and management of the Greenway.
