As part of the revitalization process, Wenk Associates is supporting the Steamboat Springs Redevelopment Authority (SSRA) to design and implement public improvement projects throughout Steamboat Ski Base Area. Working with the SSRA, City of Steamboat and private partners through the base area, the project team has found a tremendous opportunity to enhance year-round activities while addressing many physical challenges found throughout the project site. Combining Steamboat Springs' rich heritage with the surrounding environment offers a tremendous opportunity to reinforce a sense of place for the Steamboat base area. Landscape and material selections acknowledging the surrounding environment while respecting the community's heritage convey a sense of authenticity critical to the success of the project.


The first phases of a multi year design and implementation effort construction were completed in Fall 2007 and the Wenk Associates team is continuing the design and developing implementation strategies for the upcoming projects. Specific projects include the development of master signage and way finding concepts, the pedestrian promenade and Burgess Creek day-lighting, development of streetscape design approaches for Mount Werner Drive and Circle. The team recently completed a mobility analysis for the entire base area focused upon improving pedestrian circulation corridors, transit facilities, and parking strategies.
