Wenk Associates was retained to complete a master plan, detailed design and construction of a highly visible segment of the downtown Creekfront. Flood control, stream restoration, recreational use, and beautification objectives were pursued simultaneously in the design, creating a multi-use resource in the heart of downtown Denver. It completes a key element of the downtown's pedestrian network and links a series of pedestrian spaces that celebrate water, the Colorado landscape, and the history of the site. These multiple functions were integrated with the primary engineering function of unimpeded conveyance of floodwaters.
