Yampa Street Improvements

Transformation of former industrial street into a pedestrian promenade and community river destination

Once the industrial zoned area of Steamboat, Yampa Street has long been recognized for its potential due to its location between the Yampa River and the Steamboat’s main commercial strip. As commercial activity began to happen along the street, the community began to embrace the Yampa River as an essential natural resource and key recreational amenity, and the vision to revitalize Yampa Street became a reality.

Wenk Associates provided site planning and landscape architecture services for streetscape enhancements to a 7-block stretch of Yampa Street. Improvements will include a large promenade along the riverside of the street, outdoor plazas, gathering areas, sidewalks, bike lanes, bike parking, auto parking, service areas, and landscape spaces. Construction details will include walls, paving, stairs, railings, benches, and site furnishings.
