Woodland Reserve Greenway Master Plan

Ankeny, IA

The comprehensive greenway master plan includes opportunities for public recreation and improved wildlife habitat.

The City of Ankeny is experiencing significant growth and development. The Ankeny Parks and Recreation Board recently identified a series of greenways for the City. This 108-acre greenway offers amazing public recreation opportunities and improved wildlife habitat along a 4-mile creek. Wenk created the master plan that combines recreation, habitat enhancement, stormwater management and water quality, trail connections, and areas for outdoor learning and exploration. Public meetings and visionary stakeholder workshops were key to a successful plan.

The master plan provides for new public access along a lush riparian corridor. Concepts include picnic areas, an expanded trail network, water access, and habitat enhancement.
