STEAM on the Platte

Denver, CO

Adaptive reuse project prioritizes workforce housing, healthy living, and sustainable practices.

The redevelopment site for STEAM on the Platte, a mixed-use community along the South Platte River, was for many decades a no-man’s land of Denver’s industrial past, despite being only a few miles from downtown. Wenk worked with the design team to provide a vision for the site that embraces its location along the river and celebrates its industrial past. Wenk also provided urban design of all site infrastructure.

STEAM on the Platte will redevelop 3.3 acres which includes the renovation/conversion of the existing warehouse into office space use, associated adjacent site improvements, utilities, and parking. The project will bring urban ecology to a part of the city that hasn’t seen private-sector investment in the past century.
