Our Process

Our process is straightforward. We are listeners first. We listen to our clients, colleagues, the community, and the land we impact. We research and work together to develop suitable possibilities. We test, retest, and refine ideas. We collaborate with engineers, scientists, ecologists, artists, and other design disciplines to develop elegant design solutions.

Our work is a beautiful blend of art, nature, and people working together.

Honoring Our Roots

Wenk is a pioneer. We were sustainable before sustainability. We were resilient before resiliency. We were on the cutting edge of water resource planning and sustainability at the start of our story in 1982. Bill Wenk saw things differently. From the idea that stormwater systems could be better designed to enhance their surroundings, he launched a career-long exploration into the use of urban water infrastructure as a resource to better people’s daily lives. Today, our firm’s work continues to evolve from this 40-year foundation, taking the lessons we’ve learned from years of observation to challenge and push ideas and to develop more successful projects for the future.

Wenk Next: A Woman-Owned Firm

In 2016, principals Nicole Horst and Greg Dorolek joined founding principal Bill Wenk as partners of Wenk Associates.

In 2020, Bill retired and Nicole and Greg became the full owners of the firm. Bill still advises on special projects of interest but he is primarily enjoying his retirement riding his bike, traveling the globe, and spending time with his wife and grandkids.

In 2024, Wenk became a woman-owned firm.

We is certified as a Minority and Women Business Enterprise (MWBE), a Small Business Enterprise (SBE), and a Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) through the City and County of Denver Division of Small Business Opportunity (DSBO).
